NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police were searching Thursday for a man who allegedly performed sex acts on a human corpse aboard a Lower Manhattan subway train early Wednesday morning.
The NYPD released surveillance images Thursday showing the suspect wanted for the “sexual misconduct” aboard a downtown R train at the South Ferry/Whitehall Street station.
The sickening incident happened around 12:20 a.m. as a dead man’s body was lying on a seat inside an R train at the station, sources told 1010 WINS.
Surveillance video from the train reviewed by police showed the man performing various sex acts on the body aboard the train car, sources said.
Police are working to identify the dead man on the train, as the medical examiner looks into his exact cause of death.
Investigators believe he was homeless and may have died of natural causes on the train. His body was found later that same night by an MTA conductor.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
